If you are using a permanent IP address to connect to the Internet, you may need to
obtain the following information from your ISP and configure them into the correspond
fields showed in the figure 3-32: the IP address for this interface, the subnet mask, the
gateway‟s IP address and the IP address for the DNS server. The router will automatically
connect to the internet with the parameters once the Internet connection is available.

3.4.2.2.3 WAN#2: backup access
If your ISP supports DHCP IP address assignment for the Internet connection, you can set
the Interface type to DHCP. The Hostname filed is optional if the ISP require to identify the
users. The router will obtain the dynamic IP address as long as the subnet mask and the
IP addresses for the default gateway and the DNS server from the ISP‟s DHCP server
once the interface connection is available.
