number of preambles - This field allows the user to change the number in the preambles at

the beginning of HART messages transmitted by the meter. A preamble is a special character

that is transmitted at the beginning of HART messages. The purpose of preambles is to pre-

pare the receiving HART circuitry to receive the remainder of the message. The typical number

of the preambles is five. The valid range of preambles is 3 to 15.

final assembly number - This field allows the user to enter a number in the HART “Final As-

sembly Number” field. The value of this field has no affect on the operation of the meter. The

value of this field can range from 0 to 16777215.

universal Command Revision - This field displays the revision number of “Universal Com-

mand” specification that was implemented in the meter. This field is read-only.

special Command Revision - This field displays the revision number of the “Special Com-

mand” specification that is implemented in the meter. This field is read-only.

Device iD - The “Device ID” is unique identifier. Each Racine vortex flow meter will have a

unique device ID to distinguish it from other Racine vortex meters. The device ID is assigned at

the factory. This field is read-only.

NOTE: Save the changes to EEPROM and put the meter Online after making changes.

Damping Value

The damping value can be read and set from the “Damping Value” dialog box. To bring up this

box, click the “Configure Meter” pull-down menu on the main screen and then select “Damping

Value”.

The damping value is read from the meter and displayed when the dialog box is opened. To

change the damping value, enter the desired damping value and click Write.

The damping value controls the filtering of the primary variable (PV) and analog output. The

damping filter is a moving average filter. The valid range of the damping value is 0.0001 to 255

seconds. The damping value specifies the amount of time required for the meter’s output to

reach 63% of its final value in response to step change.

For example, if the “Damping Value” was set to 5 seconds and a step change in flow occurs

from 0 to 100 CFM, the output would reach 63 CFM in 5 seconds and then continue to asymp-

totically approach 100 CFM.
