Releasing virtual volume definitions

You can release V-VOL definitions if you are not using them as FS S-VOLs. Releasing the FS pairs
that are using the V-VOLs releases the V-VOL definitions.

Release the FS pairs that are using the V-VOLs (see

“Releasing Fast Snap pairs” (page 87)

).

Workflow for deleting V-VOLs specified for Fast Snap S-VOLs

Typically, you cannot delete V-VOLs and V-VOL groups that are specified for FS S-VOLs. If the
groups are specified for S-VOLs, complete the following:

1.

Release the FS pairs (see

“Releasing Fast Snap pairs” (page 87)

).

2.

Delete the FS pairs (see

“Deleting Fast Snap pairs” (page 85)

).

3.

Delete the V-VOL (see

“Deleting virtual volumes” (page 135)

).

Deleting virtual volumes

1.

In the RWC main window, in the resource tree in the Explorer, click Logical Devices.

2.

In the list, click the rows for the V-VOLs that you want to delete and then click More Actions >
Delete LDEVs.
