1.

Specify 2 as the number of S-VOLs, and select two P-VOLs.

The storage system assumes two pairs of two S-VOLs each will be created.

Select the S-VOL. Select and delete the S-VOL MU#1 of the second pair.

By deleting a S-VOL, you can create multiple pairs of different configurations.

Splitting pairs

You can create up to 1,024 snapshots from one P-VOL. This topic explains how to split pairs.

Prerequisites

You have the Storage Administrator (Local Copy) role.

The FS pair status is “PAIR”.

In the Storage Systems tree, click Replications > Local Replications.

In the Pairs tab, select the pair you want to split, then click Split Pairs.

In the Split Pairs window, complete the following item and click Finish.

Split Type

The split type.

Values:

- Quick Split: Splits the pair immediately. Specify this function when you want to split a
pair then immediately write to or read from the S-VOL. After the pair is split, the remaining
differential data is copied to the S-VOL in the background.

- Steady Split: Copies the differential data then splits the pair.

If you have specified FS or Snapshot as the copy type, this is the only available option.

Default: Steady Split

In the Confirm window, type a Task Name then click Apply.
