Notes on acquiring snapshot data

(If you are using RAID Manager to run the raidcom modify snapshot -snapshot_data
create

RAID Manager command to split pairs and the consistency group includes a pair in

a status other than “PAIR”) The command can terminate abnormally, as follows:

The command is rejected.

Timeout occurs. The error code is EX_EWSTOT.

The pair is suspended. The error code is EX_EWSUSE.

To maintain the consistency of snapshot data while running the raidcom modify snapshot
-snapshot_data create

RAID Manager command, do not run other commands on pairs

in the consistency group.

If you run other commands, this RAID Manager command can end abnormally as follows:

Timeout (Error code EX_EWSTOT).

The pair is suspended (Error code EX_EWSUSE).

The restoration of an FS pair can end abnormally in either of the following conditions:

Snapshot data for a consistency group including the FS pair is being acquired.

The P-VOL of the FS pair is also used as the P-VOL of another FS pair. In addition, snapshot
data for a consistency group including the latter FS pair is being acquired.

Notes on when the host is down

If the host is down, some consistency group might not contain any FS pair. In this case, if you use
RAID Manager to create a pair that should be a target of the At-Time Snapshot function, the
command can be rejected. If this occurs, you should locate the consistency group in the Consistency
Group tab of the Local Replications window, and then create a pair where this consistency group
is specified.

Restoring pairs

To restore a FS pair, the pair status must be “PSUS”. If the pair is restored, the FS pair status
changes to “PAIR”. To restore an FS pair, use the Resync pairs window.

CAUTION:

When restoring a pair (reverse) resync, if a failure occurs, pair status changes to

“PSUE”. To restore the pair, delete the snapshot data. Deleting the snapshot data does not guarantee
the pair's P-VOL data. To assure the data, overwrite the backup data to the P-VOL or format the
P-VOL.

Prerequisites

You have the Storage Administrator (Local Copy) role.

The FS pair status is PSUS.
