“Memory Stick Duo”
The sound breaks off. cClean the head using the cleaning cassette (optional). (p. 103)
Cannot perform the Multi-picture
search, Title search or the Date
search. • There is a blank section in the beginning or middle of the tape. This is
not a malfunction. (p. 46)
“---” is displayed on the screen. • The tape you are playing was recorded without setting the date and time.

• A blank section on the tape is being played.
• The data code on a tape with a scratch or noise cannot be read.
Noises appear and is displayed
on the screen.
• The tape was recorded in a TV color system other than that of your
camcorder. (p. 112)
The image on the screen remains still
for about 1 second during playback. • When you play back the transition between two recordings, the image on
the screen remains still for about 1 second. This is not a malfunction.
Symptom Cause and/or Corrective Actions
Cannot operate functions using the
“Memory Stick Duo.” cSet the POWER switch to the CAMERA-MEM or PLAY/EDIT mode.

c Insert a “Memory Stick Duo” into your camcorder. (p. 18)
• You have inserted the “Memory Stick Duo” formatted on the computer.
cFormat the “Memory Stick Duo” on your camcorder. Beware that the
recorded data is completely erased.
Cannot record on the “Memory Stick
Duo.” cThe capacity is full. Delete unnecessary pictures recorded on the
“Memory Stick Duo.” (p. 80)
cFormat the “Memory Stick Duo” on your camcorder or insert another
“Memory Stick Duo.” (p. 57)
cWhen you are using the “Memory Stick Duo” with the write-protect tab,
release the lock on the write-protect tab of the “Memory Stick Duo.”

• The “100MSDCF” folder is selected. You cannot record pictures to the
“100MSDCF” folder. This folder is used for playback only.
The pictures are not played back in
the actual size. • Pictures recorded on other devices may not appear in the actual size. This
is not a malfunction.
Image data cannot be played back. cDeactivate the USB Streaming function on your camcorder and set the
(USB) ON/OFF switch on the Handycam Station to OFF.
• Image data cannot be played back when you modify files or folders, or
edit the data on a computer (The file name flashes in that case). This is
not a malfunction. (p. 97)
• Pictures recorded on other devices may not appear in the actual size. This
is not a malfunction.(p. 97)
