5. Carefully unthread the upper nuts, and allow the springs to expand slowly until the springs are loose

between the followers.
Leave the upper hex nuts on the studs.

6. Unthread and remove the studs from the bearing pads.
7. Unthread and remove the lower hex jam nuts from the studs.
8. Remove the lower hex nuts and lower followers.
9. Remove the springs.
10. Remove the upper followers.
11. Inspect studs, springs, followers, and nuts for any wear, damage, or corrosion.

Replace when necessary.

12. Inspect each Lubrite pad for excessive wear.

Replace when necessary.
