3 Installation
Whether installing the Torrent SVS Valve during new construction or as a retrofit,
proper planning and equipment layout ensures a smooth installation. The SVS valve is
designed to mount onto a Hale midship pump without interference to other suction or
discharge connections.
Note: When ordered as part of a new midship fire pump the valve is pre-installed on
the fire pump and tested at the factory per NFPA requirements.

DO NOT REPLACE THE PROCEDURES AND POLICIES ESTABLISHED BY YOUR
COMPANY.
Evaluate the best location for the valve installation, taking the following into
consideration:
1. Customer requirements
2. Discharge location on the vehicle
3. Maintenance accessibility
4. Valve actuation

Left close; Right close; Actuator position: Right, Left Top or Bottom and
Push rod, or Handwheel
❑ Electric
Wiring path, Securing the wire harness and mounting the controls
❑ Clearance around the actuator
5. Control panel layout
3.1 INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
❑ Examine the pump body and the available space in the pump compartment
to decide the best pump output opening to use. Account for space con-
straints and pipe and operator shaft routing through the compartment.
❑ If applicable, remove the pump blank flange from the appropriate outlet.
Install a suitable Hale SVS pump-side valve adapter.
