4.

Match mark, tag and/or note the orientation of the SVS valve and connec-
tions to the pump and/or manifold before disconnecting or removing the
valve. This aids in proper reassembly.

5.

Make sure there is sufficient clearance above and around the apparatus to
perform your service requirements. Gain access to the SVS valve by
removing or disconnecting other equipment as needed, e.g., operator push
rods, discharge piping, electrical wiring, and any other components that
would impede valve removal.

WARNING !

CERTAIN INTERNAL PARTS OF THE SVS VALVE ASSEMBLY ARE UNDER TEN-
SION, E.G., LOCKING CAM DOWEL PINS, SNAP RING, ETC. WHEN SERVICING
THE VALVE WEAR EYE PROTECTION AND EXERCISE CARE WHEN REMOVING
THESE PARTS FOR PREVENT SERIOUS EYE INJURY.

6.

When lubricant is called for, use only approved lubricants on the SVS Valve
system. Also see Section 4.3 “Lubricants” on page 20.

7.

When replacing fasteners, use the proper nuts, bolts, and other hardware.
Many are specifically rated; that is, SAE Grade 5 or higher. Unless other-
wise specified, fasteners are Grade 5 SAE.

Apply a coating of Loctite #242 Medium Strength Threadlock (or equal) to
all adapter flange mounting bolts and the 1/4”-20 hex head screw on the
handle before installing.

8.

Wherever there is a requirement for new parts, it is recommended to use
only Hale authorized replacement parts for optimum safety of the equip-
ment and its operators and to reduce downtime.

9.

Whenever gaskets are removed, they must be replaced. Clean all gasket
material from mating surfaces before installing the new gasket. Be careful
not to score the finished surfaces.

10.

Seals, O-rings and other components should be inspected for wear, scor-
ing, pitting or other forms of damage whenever the parts are disassembled.
It is also recommended to replace O-ring seals to avoid unnecessary repair.

11.

Before placing the apparatus into operation, the valve must be tested and
checked for leaks. All leaks must be repaired immediately.
