Torrent SVS Installation / Service Manual

p/n: 029-0020-90-0

The installer is responsible for observing all instructions and safety precau-
tions in his or her daily routine as dictated by regional safety ordinances or
departmental procedures.

DO NOT tamper with or disconnect safety features which could affect safe
operation of the valve and/or cause personal injury.

WARNING !

NO MODIFICATIONS OR ADDITIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE TORRENT SVS
SERIES VALVE WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM:

Hale Products, Incorporated

Fire Suppression Division
700 Spring Mill Avenue
Conshohocken, PA 19428 U.S.A.
Telephone .......... 610-825-6300

Electrical systems have the potential to cause sparks during service or
repair. Eliminate explosive or hazardous environments during installation.

Any valve operated by an electric motor causes the associated “Manual
Override” hand wheel or linkage to move/rotate (if purchased). Be extremely
careful that NO part of your body (head, feet, arms, legs, finger, hair, etc.) is
in an area of rotating/moving parts where you could be subject to injury.

Electric motors and wiring are protected by a circuit breaker. DO NOT
remove or bypass the circuit breaker as severe damage to the electric motor
or apparatus wiring could result.

Fasteners used for the assembly of the Torrent SVS Series Valves are Grade
5, or stainless steel.

NEVER substitute a fastener with material specifications below Grade 5.
DO NOT substitute carbon steel fasteners for stainless steel. Failure to do
so may cause equipment malfunction or damage, and/or personal injury.

Used only approved lubricants on the SVS valve system. Also see Section
4.3 “Lubricants,” on page 20 for addittional information.

Certain internal parts of the SVS valve assembly are under tension, e.g.,
locking cam spring, snap ring, etc. When servicing the valve wear eye pro-
tection and exercise care when removing these parts.

WARNING !

IF YOUR SVS VALVE INCLUDES THE “SLOW-CLOSE” OPTION, DO NOT TAMPER
WITH THE SLOW-CLOSE ACTUATOR. THERE ARE NO SERVICEABLE PARTS
INSIDE. THE ACTUATOR MUST NEVER BE DISASSEMBLED AND IS REPLACED
AS A SINGLE UNIT. ORDER HALE P/N: 830-2123-21-0.
