With manual levers, push rod
options can be located on the
apparatus control panel to operate
a valve which is mounted in an
otherwise inaccessible location.

Locking Actuator

The locking actuator is factory
installed on top of the valve stem.
The cam actuator provides a posi-
tive holding action, either fully
CLOSED, fully OPENED, or at any
setting IN BETWEEN, to prevent
inadvertent valve drift caused by
vibration-induced operations.

Slow-Close Actuator Option

The optional controlled motion of Slow-Close imparts smooth feel to the valve
lever as it is operated, preventing damage caused by excessive force generated
when opening or closing valves to quickly while under pressure. Also see
heading “Slow-Close Actuator” on page 35.

Note: Slow closing valves are required by current NFPA standards for apparatus
valves 3” (76mm) and larger.

Locking and Slow-Close Handle

(See Figure 2-4: “Locking
and Slow-Close Handle.”)

The Locking and Slow-
Close handle is polished
stainless steel and pro-
vides operations from the
operator’s control panel.
(Used primarily with 1-
1/2” to 3” valves.)

Remote Gear Driven Operator Option

(See Figure 2-5: “Remote Gear Driven Operator Option,” on page 13.)

The remote gear driven operator option uses a hand wheel and three indicator
lights. Also see Figure 2-8: “Electric Controllers” on page 14.
