SERVICING THE VALVE

(See Figure 6-1: “SVS Non-Locking and Locking Valve Overview,” on page 28.)

Preparation

1.

First, review preceding sections “Before You Begin...,” on page 25 to ensure
a thorough installation.

2.

AFTER VERIFYING ALL PRESSURE IN THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN
RELIEVED, remove the suction tube caps and discharge valve caps.

3.

Open the discharge valves and any drain valves to drain the pump and
plumbing of all water. Have clean disposable shop rags and oil dry handy.

4.

Set the valve in the CLOSED position.

Removing the Valve

1.

Depending on options and piping configurations, it may be possible to
remove the SVS valve without dismantling or removing the inlet or outlet
adapters from their associated piping.

2.

The SVS valve body can be removed as an assembly by removing the four
3/8”-16 through bolts that secure the valve body to the adapter flanges on
each side. (See Figure 6-1: “SVS Non-Locking and Locking Valve Over-
view,” on page 28.)

To service the valve internally, it is best to remove the adapters from both
sides of the valve.

3.

With the valve in the CLOSED position, remove the SVS valve from the
pump assembly.

CAUTION !

AT THIS POINT, THE INTERNAL MODULAR VALVE SEAL, VALVE SEAT SPACER
AND SEAL O-RING MAY BE LOOSE AND COULD FALL FREE. (SEE FIGURE 6-1:
“SVS NON-LOCKING AND LOCKING VALVE OVERVIEW.”)
EXERCISE CARE TO
AVOID DROPPING THESE PARTS AS DAMAGE COULD RESULT RENDERING
THE PART DEFECTIVE.
