Corrective Maintenance

Note: The ball can only be removed with the valve in the CLOSED position.
3. Remove the handle and washer. (See Figure 6-1: “SVS Non-Locking and
Locking Valve Overview,” on page 28.)
4. Non-Locking Valves
❑ Place a rag inside the valve body to protect the finish when the valve
stem drops free, or place your hand inside to catch the valve stem.
❑ Push downward on the top of the valve stem to push it into the valve
body. If the stem will not move, lightly tap it with a rubber or wooden mal-
let. (See Figure 6-2: “Non-Locking / Locking Valve Stem Assemblies.”)

5. Locking Valves
❑ Remove three (3) 1/4”-20 hex screws and the 1/4” valve STOP nut. (See
Figure 6-1: “SVS Non-Locking and Locking Valve Overview,” on page
28.)
❑ Remove the cover retainer, locking cover (with upper ring bearing) to
expose the locking cam.
❑ Using snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring and wave washer.
