No image appears on the screen and the display’s power indicator light is on.

m Make sure the display cable is connected to the correct port on the back of

the computer.

If you have a video card installed in your computer, the display cable should
be plugged into the port for the video card.

If you do not have a video card installed in your computer, the display cable
should be plugged into the display port on the back of your computer.

m Make sure the thumbscrews on the display cable are tightened securely.
m Make sure the contrast (O) and brightness (¤) controls are set correctly.

The contrast and brightness controls are on the front of your display.

The screen is dark or appears dim.

m Make sure that your computer and display are turned on.
m Make sure that the power cord and the display cable are securely connected

at both ends.

m Increase the contrast and brightness of the screen image. The contrast (O)

and brightness (

¤) controls are on the front of your display.

m A screen saver that darkens your screen may be activated. Move the mouse

or press any key on the keyboard to reactivate the display.

m The Energy Saver option may be activated. Move the mouse or press any

key on the keyboard to reactivate the display. In approximately 20 seconds
(or until you no longer hear the beep), the display is reactivated.

m Some Macintosh computers may not wake up after Energy Saver is

activated. Restart your computer and disable Energy Saver.

Contrast

controls on the front of the display don’t appear

to work.

m Your display may have the contrast (O) and brightness (¤) controls

disabled. See “Recalibrating Automatically” in Chapter 4.

m Make sure you’ve installed the Macintosh software that came with your

display. See “Installing the Macintosh Software” in Chapter 1.
