The internal microphone doesn’t record.

m Turn on the microphone by pressing the microphone button (marked by Z)

on the front of your display. When the microphone is on, the microphone
indicator light is on.

m Make sure the display’s sound cable is connected properly. See “Connecting

the Sound Cable” in Chapter 1.

m Make sure the display’s microphone is selected as the sound input source

in the AppleVision Setup control panel. See “Selecting a Sound Input
Source” in Chapter 5.

m Sound input may be disabled. See “Adjusting Volume, Treble, and Bass on

Your Display” in Chapter 5.

The microphone button on your keyboard doesn’t turn on your display microphone.

m Some adjustable keyboards for the Macintosh have a button marked by Z.

This button does not turn on the built-in microphone on your AppleVision

You can still hear internal computer speakers when playing sound on the AppleVision

speakers.

m On some Macintosh computers, you must manually mute the internal

computer speakers. See “Checking Volume Controls on Your Computer” in
Chapter 5.

speakers don’t mute when headphones are connected.

m Make sure “Mute speakers when headphones are connected” is selected in

the Sound window of the AppleVision Setup control panel.

An external microphone connected to the sound input port (marked by

) on the display

doesn’t record quality sound.

m You may need to adjust the Gain for the microphone. See “Adjusting

Volume, Treble, and Bass on Your Display” in Chapter 5.

m Some external microphones don’t work well with the AppleVision 1710

microphone directly into the sound input port on the back of your
computer.
