The Sound In window appears with a list of ports you can use for sound
input. Depending on the equipment installed on your Macintosh, the Sound
In window may look slightly different from the one shown below.

Select the Built-in icon.

The Built-in icon represents sound input ports that are a standard part of your
Macintosh (for example, the sound input port on the back of the computer, an
internal CD-ROM port, and so on).

Other icons represent additional sound input ports you may have installed on
your computer. For example, you might have a video expansion card with
sound input ports on the card.

You select the Built-in icon because the sound cable on the AppleVision
1710

AV

Display is connected to the sound input port on the back of your

computer.

Note: If the AppleVision 1710

Display is connected to an expansion card

for a third-party product, see the manual that came with the product.

Click Options (if available) and select an input option.

On some Macintosh computers, Options is dimmed or doesn’t appear when
you select the Built-in icon. In this case, the correct option is automatically
selected and you can skip to step 8.

A dialog box appears with a list of sound input options. The contents of this
dialog box change depending on the type of Macintosh you’re using.
