Update Firmware

Firmware is the embedded software for the Echo Architectural Control Processor, dimming

engine, DALI and fluorescent option boards.

Echo ACP firmware is available from Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc. and should be saved

to the root directory of your removable media for loading on the Echo ACP.

Step 1:

Install a removable media device (either SD media card or USB flash drive), with

the firmware files loaded, into the correct slot on the front of the ACP.

Step 2:

Scroll to select “Update Firmware” from the “File Operations” menu and press
enter (

). An “Update Firmware” dialog displays for your action.

Choose “No” to abort and return to the

“File Operations” menu.

Choose “Yes” to proceed with the

firmware update. The “Update Firmware”

menu lists available removable media for

selection.

Step 3:

Scroll to select the media option that contains
the firmware update packet and press enter (

) to accept the selection. All

applicable firmware files that are available for uploading are displayed.

Echo ACP firmware package filename suffix is “*.efw”

Folders, indicated in brackets “<text>”, may also display in the menu list.
Select the folder and press enter (

) to display the individual firmware files

stored within the selected folder. To return to the root directory scroll to select
<...> and press (

).

Step 4:

Use the touch wheel to scroll and select the desired firmware update file. Press
enter (

) to accept the selection. If the update process fails for any reason, you

will be notified of the failure. Follow the instructions provided on the error dialogs.

If the update continues to fail, the display will cancel the update process and

return to the “Update Firmware” display for firmware package selection again.

The update process will automatically resume the update from the stage of

failure when a valid firmware file is detected on removable media.

C A U T I O N :

Use caution when updating Echo ACP firmware. If reverting to an earlier version

of the Echo ACP firmware, previous versions may not support newer features and

the configuration data for those features will be lost. Please contact ETC

Technical Services for assistance as needed.

W A R N I N G :

Do not remove media during this process. Doing so could damage your

media or prevent your system from operating properly.
