Zooming

The camera’s 12X zoom lens allows you to choose
the best picture angle for each subject.

• Press the W button to zoom out to wide-angle.
• Press the T button to zoom in to telephoto.

Hold down the ZOOM SPEED button to increase

the zoom speed; release it to return to normal
speed.

Minimum focusing distance

1 m

60 cm

When you are shooting at the widest angle, you
can bring the camera as close as 1 centimetre (3/8
inch) and the subject should still be clearly focused.
At the furthest telephoto position, however, the
subject will be out of focus if it is any closer than 80
centimetres (2 feet 8 inches).
This change in the minimum focusing distance is

shown in the diagram.

Notes:

• Even slight hand movements will become

noticeable during telephoto recording. Use the
image stabilizer or a tripod for better results.

• Overuse of zooming may make recordings seem

too busy. It is generally most effective when it is

used sparingly, or in order to reframe between
shots.
