Greater I/O Board (GIOX)

The Greater I/O Board (GIOX) provides functionality to any Doors.Net access control sys-
tem by adding auxiliary I/O that can be used for additional access control functionality,
monitoring non-reader doors or other devices, creating powerful action sequences by
linking input triggers to outputs and for proving Elevator Control. The GIOX can be con-
nected anywhere along the RS-485 trunk/bus, most commonly at the controller or near a
reader. One GIOX can be added per trunk, but no more than two GIOX units can be
added to a single NXT or NXT Mercury-Powered controller.

A GIOX mother-board is designed to allow up to 8 individual input and output modules to
be attached to it in any combination. Each module has either 8 supervised inputs or 8
outputs. This means you can run between a maximum of 8 input modules with 8 inputs
per module for a total of 64 inputs, to a maximum of 8 output modules with 8 outputs per
module for a total of 64 outputs; or any range in between in increments of 8.

If you are installing output modules you must use an external power supply as the power
provided by the controller via the RS-485 bus is not sufficient to power output modules.

The module’s relays are re-assignable and interchangeable with the main controller’s
relays. The unit also has a port to plug in an NXT-RM3 Reader Interface
Module to allow non-NXT reader signals to be sent down the RS-485 line and a tamper
input.
