Setup Dual Verification (Card & PIN)

The Dual Verification feature requires the use of a Wiegand keypad with a built in prox-
imity reader such as Keri's NXT-6RK keypad reader. Dual Verification adds heightened
security to an access control system because the keypad can be configured to require a
valid card read followed by the cardholder's correct PIN number. The main benefit to this
would be to eliminate the possibility of someone gaining unauthorized access to a
secure area using someone's card that had been unknowingly lost.

If the keypad will not always be set to Dual Verification mode you will need to setup a
time schedule defining the times when a PIN number will be required following the valid
card read. Refer to

Time Schedules

for instructions on how to set up time schedules.

1. Highlight the reader in the hardware tree by finding the bus which the reader has

been wired into. In this example an NXT Mercury Powered 4 door controller is
being used (wired into bus 1).

Note: If using this controller type the keypad needs to be set to 8-bit mode to correctly
process the secondary identification.

2. Give the keypad a descriptive name, normally specifying its location in the build-

ing.

3. Select the exact Manufacturer Model from the drop-down list, then click the blue

save icon.
