Capacitance
The Capacitance tab allows you to
measure the capacitance of the loop
and capacitance length.
If no contact fault, check the Fault
Location test and trace for
characteristic reflection of water.
Also check the Long. Balance tab
for <55 dB which could indicate a
split if no other faults detected.
Note: If the ANSI standard is used, the tab
name Capacitance changes to
Opens Meter.

Cable Fill allows you to select the
type of material the cable can be
filled with.

Connection defines the type of
connection to be tested.

Cap bal. thr. (nF) is the capacitance balance threshold ranging from
0.1 to 20 nF. If the measured capacitive balance in nF is greater than
this threshold, FAIL is displayed. Otherwise, PASS is displayed.

Cap bal. thr. (%) is the capacitance balance threshold ranging from
50 to 100%. If the measured capacitance balance in percentage is
greater than this threshold, PASS is displayed. Otherwise, FAIL is
displayed.

Low cap value(nF) defines which of the above thresholds will be used
to determine pass or fail. The range is 0.1 to 500 nF. If the loop
capacitance is less than the Low cap value, the threshold in Cap bal.
thr. (nF) will be used. Otherwise, the threshold in Cap bal. thr. (%)
is used.
