Directional Airflow
Directional airflow also plays a key role in performance. Air is drawn into the
front of the cabinet at the front grille. This “curtain” of air makes it more
difficult for aerosols to escape out of the work area of the cabinet and into the
outside environment. This airflow is often calculated and referred to as the
Inflow Volume or Average Inflow Velocity. This is illustrated in Figure 4-3.
