Using 3D Transformations (NewsEdit XT only)
In addition to using effects in your sequences, you can also use 3D
Transformations. 3D Transformations create an additional dimension to a video
effect. NewsEdit XT provides a variety of 3D Transformations to choose from.
For a complete description of each transformation and its properties, see
Appendix B.
To use a 3D Transformation:
1. Press

on your keyboard or click the
Video Effects Tool
button on the
Timeline Toolbar.
2. Add a blank effect to the Timeline using the steps in the section “Adding an
Effect to the Timeline” on page 210.
3. Click the
Enable 3D Effects
button on the Video Effects Tool.
4. Check the
Resize
checkbox in the Effects tab.
You cannot use any of the transformations unless the Resize effect is
checked.
Name
Description
Resize
Enlarges and reduces the image while remaining in the same plane in 3D
space.
Locate
Moves the image along the X, Y, and Z axes.
Rotate
Rotates the picture around the reference axis in the X, Y, and Z
dimensions.
Spin
Supports multiple rotations around the reference axis in the X, Y, and Z
dimensions.
Skew
Slants the picture in the horizontal and vertical directions.
Scale
Changes the horizontal and vertical size of the image.
Axis Locate
Determines the center point of translations, spins, and rotations for that
channel.
Perspective
Changes the viewer’s apparent viewpoint of an image; tilts the image so
part of it is farther from the viewer.
