Internal Fans
Internal fans, mounted to the fan tray, provide air circulation in the chassis. Internal
fan removal and replacement requires removal of the fan tray.
To remove an internal fan:
1. Perform the Fan Tray removal procedure, including power off and power cable
disconnect (page 6-18).
2. Disconnect the appropriate fan cable connector from the Fan board on the fan tray (2
in Figure 6-11, page 6-19).
3. Use the Torx tool with the T15 tip to remove the four screws which attach the fan to
the fan tray (3 in Figure 6-11).
To replace an internal fan:
1. Use the Torx tool with the T15 tip to attach the new fan to the fan tray with the screws
previously removed.
2. Connect the new fan cable connector to the Fan board on the fan tray.
3. Perform the Fan Tray replacement procedure.
