Interior Cabling

Interior cables for the PDR200 consist of three main types: ribbon cables, SCSI
cables, and wire harness cables. In addition, coax cables provide interconnection
between Audio boards.

Ribbon cables of various sizes provide connections to and from many boards and
assemblies. These are standard types of ribbon cables terminated with standard ribbon
cable connectors. Short ribbon cables provide interconnection between adjacent
circuit boards, such as between the Analog Composite Input and the Decoder boards.
Remove these cables from both connectors to avoid the risk of damaging one of the
multi-pin connectors they plug into.

SCSI cables provide routing of digitized video and associated audio between the
Enhanced Disk Recorder boards and the Media Hard Disks, and to rear panel SCSI
connectors. SCSI cables provide interconnection between:

• The SCSI connectors on the SCSI Backplane to the EDR boards.

• The EDR boards to SCSI connectors on the rear panel.

Wire harness cables primarily provide power and ground sources to various
assemblies.

Figure 6-29 shows the locations and Table 6-2, keyed to Figure 6-29, lists the
replaceable cables in the PDR 200. Note that removal of some cables may require
using the small wire cutters to cut the small straps which aid in the routing of the
cables in the Profile chassis.
