Start-up Problems
Start-up problems may be indicated by system messages or symptoms. Representative
messages and symptoms are discussed below.
NOTE: If you suspect system registers were changed, at “Press spacebar for last
known good configuration” message, press spacebar and follow screen directions.
Message: Hard disk controller failure.
System drive bad, replace
or
VGA Board bad, replace.
Message: Can’t locate OS.
CMOS reset incorrectly or bad system drive.
Reboot. If problem persists, replace system drive.
Message: Hardware failure, contact Grass Valley Group support.
CPU bad, replace.
Symptom: No VdrPanel.
Reset CMOS.
Message: Real time processor failure.
If this message is not replaced in a few seconds by the File system corrupt message
(see below), i960 bad, replace MEDR
Message: File system corrupt.
Check the Profile.log, looking at SCSI list for:
(1) Address out of range. (For example, the drive in the A3 location looks like
A.07.00 in the list.)
Bad drive, replace.
or
Bad connector on the SCSI Backplane, replace Backplane.
(2) Drive missing in the list.
Bad drive, replace.
or
If an external drive, check cable to the external device.
