Switching from a wired (Ethernet) connection to a USB connection

Insert one end of the USB cable into the USB port of the printer.

Insert the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on the computer.

On your computer, do one of the following:

In Windows Vista:

a

Click

ΠControl Panel.

Under Hardware and Sound, click Printer.

In Windows XP:

Click Start ΠPrinters & Faxes.

Right-click the Lexmark 9500 Series icon.

Click Properties.

From the Ports tab, select the USB port for your printer.

Click Apply.

Click OK.

Print a test page to test the communication between the computer and the printer. For more information, see
“Printing a test page” on page 217.

Insert the installation software CD for Windows.

Wait a minute for the Welcome screen to appear.

If the Welcome screen does not appear after a minute, do one of the following:

In Windows Vista:

Click

Locate the Start Search box.

Type D:\setup.exe, where D is the letter of your CD or DVD drive.

In Windows XP:

a

Click Start ΠRun.

b

Type D:\setup.exe, where D is the letter of your CD or DVD drive.

Follow the instructions on the Welcome screen to set up the printer.
