Enables data compression. Turns on speed
translation (buffering). This allows for constant
speed DTE operation.

\\G

Enable RTS/CTS Flow Control. Note that the
MCNRCD program translates the \\G to a \G when
sending the string to the modem. see the discussion
for the \ Carriage Return.

Carriage Return. Terminates the above commands.

Wait .5 seconds.

The following commands store the current configuration into the modem's non-
volatile memory. They are not strictly required, but they do add a degree of
additional reliability.

Carriage Return. Terminates the above command.

Wait 1.5 seconds for the modem to store the
parameters. Other modems may require more or less
time.

command_mode1=+++
This is the command mode escape switch. This command changes the modem
from data mode into command mode. This command requires a guard time
afterwards for the modem to go into command mode. The default time is 1
second on most modems.

The escape character can usually be set in the S2 register in the modem. The
Guard Time can usually be set in the S12 register. Be sure it is set to between .5
and 1 second.

hangup1=ATH
This is the command that tells the modem to hang up the current connection.

For a leased-line operation, the modems should be configured as follows:

The modems may be used in 4-wire or 2-wire configuration. The modems will
come on-line faster in the 4-wire mode since training is quicker.

If leased line modems are used, the following system configurations must be set:

OPTION A switch 5 on the HIB must be in the UP position.

The /LL command line option must be specified on the MCNRCD

command line.
