Troubleshooting

If the unit does not function as expected, try the following steps to resolve the
issue.

1

Look for the unit’s symptoms in the troubleshooting tables below

and follow the suggested remedies.
If the unit does not start properly, and an error message is displayed, write
down the 4 digit error code shown on the display to report to your Sony dealer.

Check for information about the issue in the help of the software

used to transfer audio files.

If the approaches listed above fail to resolve the issue, consult

Customer Information Service Center.

Note

• The serial number of the unit is required for customer registration. The number is on a

label inside back cover of the battery case. Do not remove the label.

Make sure the rechargeable battery is inserted

correctly.

The rechargeable battery needs to be charged.

The rechargeable

battery will not

charge. The

rechargeable battery

cannot be fully

charged.

Make sure the AC power adaptor is correctly

connected to the unit and to a wall outlet.

 Charge the battery at the recommended temperature

( page 21).

 Charging may take a long time if you operate the

unit while it is charging. Turn off the unit.

 The battery may have reached the end of its useful

life. Replace it with a new one. To get a new battery,

call 1-800-488-SONY (7669).
