Symptom

Cause or corrective action

Battery life is short.

 The surrounding temperature is too high or too low.

Operate the unit at the recommended temperature

( page 247).

 The battery may have reached the end of its useful

life. Replace it with a new one. To get a new battery,

call 1-800-488-SONY (7669).

 Set “Auto Backlight Off” to “YES,” and set “Auto

Power Off” to “YES.”

The unit will not turn

off.

 The HOLD feature is activated. Slide the HOLD

switch in the direction opposite the arrow ( page

26).

 Remove the battery, and reconnect the AC power

adaptor to the unit. Wait a few minutes, and then

turn on the unit.

 Do not attempt to turn off the unit while the start-up

screen is displayed.

“System Error” is

displayed.

 Remove the battery, and reconnect the AC power

adaptor to the unit. Wait a few minutes, and then

turn on the unit.

The unit turns off

automatically.

 “Auto Power Off” is set to “YES.” Set it to “NO.”
 The unit turns off when the rechargeable battery is

drained. Charge the rechargeable battery using the

supplied AC power adaptor.

The start-up screen is

not displayed.

 If it has been more than three days since the last

time the unit was used, the start-up screen appears.

In other situations, the screen that was being

displayed when the unit was turned off appears.
