Symptom

Cause or corrective action

The supplied software

does not start up.

 If the initial set-up screen is displayed and the unit is

connected to the USB cable, the supplied software

may not start up. Disconnect the USB cable and

follow the instruction to finish the initial set-up, and

then reconnect the unit to your computer.

System suspend,

sleep, or hibernation

does not work on

your computer.

 When your computer resumes from system suspend,

sleep, or hibernation, communication between your

unit and your computer may not recover at the same

time. It is recommended that you adjust your

computer’s power options so that your computer

does not automatically enter suspend, sleep, or

hibernation.

Home button does not

work.

 The Home button does not work while a dialog

window is displayed. Close the dialog window by

selecting “OK” or “Cancel.”

The unit does not
function properly

 Static electricity and other similar occurrences may

affect the operation of the unit. Remove the battery

pack and AC adaptor, wait for about 30 seconds,

insert the battery, connect the AC adaptor, and then

restart the unit.

The unit or AC

adaptor is warm.

 During use, the unit or AC adaptor may become

warm. This is not a malfunction. If you find the AC

adaptor gets extremely warm, stop using the unit,

and unplug the AC adaptor from the power source.

The unit is turned on,

but does not operate

 Check that the unit is not in hold mode. If it is, slide

the HOLD switch up to turn off hold mode ( page

26).

 Try sliding the HOLD switch and holding until the

power indicator turns off. The unit will be

completely turned off. Then turn on the unit again.

 None of the buttons or controls work while the start-

up screen is displayed.

When the buttons are

pressed, there are no

key tones.

 Check that “Key Sound” is set to “ON” ( page

173).

The date and time are

reset.

 If the battery runs out, or if the battery pack is

replaced, the unit’s date and time settings may be

reset. Follow the on-screen instructions to set the

date and time.
