To insert emoticons in chat messages
Press the  /  /  /  keys on the keyboard or the 4-way button ( ///) to
move the cursor to the position where you want to insert the emoticons, and
select “Insert Emoticon” from the Context menu. Select an emoticon from the
emoticon list. The selected emoticon is inserted to the right of the cursor.
Answering a new chat
When another contact sends a new message, appears on the status bar of the
display ( page 50).

Press INFO.
The communication panel appears.

Press / to select the new chat event, and then press the
center button.
The chat screen appears, displaying the new message.
To start a new chat from the Events screen

On the Skype Contacts screen, press / to select “Events,” and
then press the center button.

Press / to select the user you want to chat with, and then press
the center button.
A list of options appears.

Press / to select “Chat,” and then press the center button.
A chat screen appears, and you can begin typing a message to the selected user.
