Mapping the Product’s Data in the
Scanner

Data from I/O messages must be mapped in the scanner. This
mapping determines where a ladder logic program can find data
transmitted on the network. You must map the following:

Mapping the Input I/O

1. In the Scanner Module dialog box, click the Input tab. (If you

need to display this dialog box, right-click the scanner in the
configuration view. See Figure 5.2.)

If you selected the Automap on Add box (Figure 5.3) in the
Scanlist page (Figure 5.4) and did not change any settings,
RSNetWorx has already mapped the I/O. If I/O is not mapped,
click AutoMap to map it. If you need to change the mapping,
click Advanced and change the settings. Click Help for
assistance.

2. In the Memory box, select a location in scanner memory.

In our example, we are using a 1747-SDN and selected Discrete.

3. In the Start Word box, select the word in memory at which the

data should start. In our example, it is 1.
