Second-Curtain Sync
Photography
With focal plane shutters, flash synchronization is
made when the first curtain is fully open. With the
combination of the EOS and the 430EZ Speedlite,
it is also possible to perform flash synchronization
just before the second curtain starts running. This
is called “second-curtain sync” and is effective for
expressing motion through a trailing light.
