20.

Install the deck discharge chute deflector:

20a. If attached, remove the ignition key from the

chute bracket.

20b. Remove the flange lock nuts from the deck. Do

not remove the push nuts or carriage bolts,
leaving them in place will aid in installing the
chute.

20c. Install the discharge chute deflector over the

carriage bolts. Install the flange lock nuts. See
Figure 12.

Install the batteries:

NOTE: The electrical system of this mower is a “floating” or “isolated” system. That means none of the electri-

cal components are grounded to the mower’s frame.

NOTE: Before installing the batteries, remove the month and year from the label or write the date of installa-

tion on the side of the batteries with a magic marker. This will be helpful in diagnosing the batteries
after they have been in service for a while.

NOTE: Only use the nuts supplied with the batteries to attach the battery cables.

NOTE: The battery cables are color coded to assist in the installation of the batteries. There is colored tape to

identify the different cables. The protective boots that are on the ends of the cables are color coded red
for positive and black for negative.

the down position.

This mower has four batteries that need to be installed. They must be installed in a specific
order to minimize shorting hazards and to prevent improper wiring of the system.

Never let the battery terminals or any live harness connections contact the frame.
