19.

Place the drop axle assembly on a workbench.

20.

Remove the two screws that hold the motor bracket
to the motor using a 1/2” wrench. See Figure 3.25.

21.

Lift the bracket off of the assembly.

22.

Remove the four screws that hold the hub motor to
the drop axle using a 1/2” wrench. See Figure 3.26.

NOTE: There are two alignment pins between the motor

and the drop axle.

Gently pry the motor off of the drop axle.

NOTE: The motor housing casting is thin around the

mounting holes and is easily damaged.

24.

Remove the nuts, bolts and washers that hold the
mounting bracket to the drop axle. See Figure 3.27.

25.

Install the drop axle by following the previous steps in
reverse order.

NOTE: Do not tighten the mounting screws and nuts until

they are all started.

NOTE: Ensure that the washers are at the bolt heads

when installing the mounting bracket. The axle
housing will be damaged if the washers are miss-
ing.

NOTE: The pointy tipped 3/4” long screws hold the motor

to the drop axle, the blunt tipped 3/4” screws hold
the support plates to the drop axle. crossing these
screws can result in damage to the housing.

NOTE: Tighten all of the screws to a torque of 160 - 200 in

lbs (18 - 21 Nm).

26.

Test drive the mower in a safe area before returning
it to service.
