System 2500 Operating & Installation Manual - Revision 07

2-28

Selection of this menu item will allow the operator to program the die protection inputs to
perform a monitoring function or to see when a change in status has occurred on a die-prot input.
These choices are shown on the DP INPUT MENU:

C

EDIT INPUT MODE - Allows the operator to view or edit the mode of operation
of each die protection input.

C

VIEW STATUS - Allows the operator to see if a die protection input is closed
(grounded) or opened.

C

VIEW CHANGE - Allows the operator to 'capture' the crankshaft angles where a
die protection input closes and opens.

2.8.1.1 EDIT INPUT MODE

Each die protection input that has a sensor connected to it must be programmed to the proper
mode to work with that sensor. By choosing EDIT INPUT MODE from the DP INPUT MENU,
the operator can see how each die protection input is programmed. Input 25 is always the first to
be displayed. Other die protection inputs can be viewed by using the up and down arrow keys.
The down arrow key moves to higher number inputs and the up arrow key moves to lower
number inputs, just as if you were scanning up or down a page.

If the mode selector keyswitch is in the RUN position, the die protection setup can only be
viewed. If the keyswitch is in the PROG position, the die protection setup can be edited as well
as viewed. To edit the mode of a die protection input the operator must press the ENTER key
(with the keyswitch in the PROG position) while the information for that input is on the display.
The operator will then be prompted to choose a die protection mode for the input. Possible
modes are STATIC, CYCLIC, TRACK, TRANSFER, IN POSITION, 1 PART DETECTOR, 2
PART DETECTOR, and UNUSED. Once a mode is selected, the operator will be prompted for
any additional information that is required. For information on die protection modes see Section
2.9.

2.8.1.2 VIEW STATUS

If the VIEW STATUS item is selected from the DP INPUTS Menu, the Die-Prot Input Status
screen will be displayed. This screen indicates for each of the eight Die Protection inputs
whether the input is Closed (e.g. connected to ground, labeled CLS) or Open (labeled OPN).
This information can be useful when first setting up the die protection sensors or when
troubleshooting, to make sure that wiring connections are good and that the sensor is working
properly.
