Database
Maintenance We recommend backing up the database every day. Use SQL Server or an
IntelliTrack Utility to backup your database:
• If you have the full version of SQL Server, this process is provided for
by SQL Server. (Please refer to
“Database Backup and Restore with
SQL Server/SQL Express” on page 227 for more information.)
• If you are using SQL Express (minimal version of SQL Server 2005 or
SQL Server 2008, containing only basic components of SQL Server),
this process is provided for by SQL Express. (Please refer to
“Database
Backup and Restore with SQL Server/SQL Express” on page 227 for
more information.)
• Another option for backing up your data is to use the IntelliTrack
Backup Utility and the IntelliTrack Restore Utility for database mainte-
nance. (Please refer to
“IntelliTrack Backup and Restore Database Utili-
ties” on page 243 for more information.)

SQL Server/
SQL Express SQL Server and SQL Express provides the backup functionality needed to
protect data and backup the IntelliTrack database: Microsoft SQL Server
Management Studio provides full backup and restore functionality.
Database Backup with SQL Server Management Studio
You are able to use SQL Server Management Studio to back up your Intel-
liTrack database and have a full copy of it available in the event of data
loss or damage.
1. Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio by selecting Start >
All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 > SQL Server
Management Studio.
2. The Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio opens. The Connect to
Server dialog also appears onscreen. Connect to the IntelliTrack
instance of the Microsoft SQL Server Database Engine. (Enter the Int-
elliTrack Server Name, and your login and password and then select
the Connect button.)
