This executable installs the Sun JRE on your computer.
The Java plug-in for your Web browser is available in the following file:
$JRE_HOME/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so
where $JRE_HOME is the directory containing the JRE installation.

3.

Set the executable permission of the downloaded file:
chmod +x downloaded_file_name

4.

In a terminal window, go to the $HOME/.mozilla/plugins directory. Create a plugins

directory if it does not exist.

5.

Remove any existing links to the Java plug-in in this directory. You may use the
rm libjavaplugin_oji.so command in a terminal window to remove an existing symbolic

link to the Java plug-in.

6.

Create a symbolic link to the Java plug-in by using the following command:

ln -s $JRE_HOME/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so .

NOTE:

Remember the dot at the end of the command.

NOTE:

If you create this symbolic link in any directory other than

$HOME/.mozilla/plugins, your browser will not be able to use this new Java plug-in.

7.

If you are a root user on the server and you want to make the plug-in available to all users,

create a symbolic link to the Java plug-in in the plugins directory under the browser's

installation directory.

NOTE:

Any existing plug-ins in a user's home directory take precedence over this

system-wide plug-in.

8.

Restart your Web browser.
