Permission for Accessing Local Client Files

Java applications have a security feature that prohibits the Java applications from accessing local
files on client computers. To use Remote Web Console, you must give Remote Web Console permission
to access local files on your computer.

The following figure shows the concept of the Java application security.

Figure 12 Concept of Java Application Security

The figure shows that Remote Web Console with digital signature can access local files with user
approval. The digital signature has an expiration date that might be expired depending on the Remote
Web Console version you use. Even if the digital signature is expired, you can continue using Remote
Web Console.

The dialog box that appears when you log in depends on the JRE versions. See the following description
and take the appropriate action in the displayed dialog box.

The items on this dialog box are as follows:
• Start allows you to log in to Remote Web Console (regardless of whether the digital signature

is expired).

• Details allows you to view detailed information about the Java application.
• Exit prohibits you from using Remote Web Console.
