HDLM Operations Using Commands

This section explains how to use the HDLM command. For details on the

various command operations, see

Notes on Using Commands

Execute the HDLM command from the VMware vSphere CLI on the remote

management client.

To specify a parameter value containing one or more spaces, enclose the

entire value in double quotation marks (").

If you perform either of the following operations, the length of time

required to perform the operation (number-of-paths x one second)

depends on the number of paths that are managed by HDLM:

¢

An online or offline operation to change the status of paths

¢

A set operation to change the load-balance settings

Viewing Path Information

This section explains how to display path information by using an HDLM

command.

To display path information, execute the dlnkmgr command's view operation

with the -path parameter specified. The following example shows how to

execute the command:

dlnkmgr -s host-name -u user-name -p password view -path

To display information only for the paths accessing the specified host device,

execute the dlnkmgr command's view operation with the -path and -hdev

parameters specified. The following example shows how to execute the

command:

PROMPT>dlnkmgr -s host-name -u user-name -p password view -path -
