SECTION 4 - BOOM & PLATFORM

25. Pull telescope cylinder and wire ropes out of the
boom approximately 3/4 of the way.
26. Unbolt the extend rope block.
27. Finish pulling the telescope cylinder and wire ropes
out of the boom.
28. Remove the wire rope retaining plates and blocks
from the inner mid boom.
29. Remove the bearing cups and sheaves.
NOTE: A 3/4-16 UNF bolt can be used as a puller to remove
the bearing cups.
30. Remove the top and side wear pads from the for-
ward end of the inner mid boom section.
31. Unbolt the two retract wire ropes and four extend
wire ropes. Remove the wire rope keepers.
32. Pull the outer mid boom out approximately three feet
(1 m).
33. Remove the bottom wear pads.
34. Remove the bronze deflectors and retainer blocks.
35. Pull the outer mid boom section and wire ropes out
of the inner mid boom.
36. Remove the wire rope ends from mid boom.
37. Remove the retainer plates, bearing cups, rope
retainer blocks, and sheaves from the outer mid sec-
tion.
38. Remove the wear pads from the outer mid boom top
side.
39. Unbolt the keepers.
40. Unbolt the pin keeper.
41. Remove the sheave pin.
42. Remove the sheave.
43. Pull the fly boom and wire ropes out of outer mid
boom.
44. Remove the wire rope ends from the fly boom.
Assembly
NOTE: Moderately apply Super Lube JLG Part No. 3020042
to all four inner surfaces of both ends of each boom
section to a minimum depth of 3 to 4 feet (1 to 1.25
m). The fly boom section only needs Super Lube
applied to the insertion end.
Super Lube is also to be moderately applied to all
outer surfaces of interior wear pads after they are
installed to the insertion end of boom sections. Care
should be taken to avoid application on exposed
painted surfaces of the fully extended boom.
WIRE ROPE NUTS ARE CLOSE IN SIZE AND CAN BE SWITCHED.
BE CAREFUL. OUTER MID RETRACT NUTS, LOCATED ON BOTTOM
OF BASE BOOM, WILL BE BLACK IN COLOR.
1. Install the fly retract wire rope button ends into the
slots in the side of the fly boom, coil the remaining
lengths of wire rope and place them into the fly
boom, tape the slots to keep the rope from jumping
out.
