6.4 Storing the printer

If the printer is not used for a long period of time (up to three months), the

following instructions are to be followed.

Important!
• If the instrument remains connected to the power supply with the power

on, the ink cartridge can remain in the printer up to its expiration date.

• The print head drying out is prevented, because the printer regularly

rinses the print head.

• You must absolutely ensure that the ink cartridge is switched out accord-

ing to its expiration date.

If the instrument is switched off and separated from the power supply, the

following is to be done:

• Open the cover plate (5) on the left side of

the instrument by pressing its top left corner

(see

Fig. 31

). Then push the security latch (86)

forward

(

Fig. 57

).

• Pull the ink cartridge (66) approx. 3 cm out

of the instrument so that the "Ink Empty" LED

lights.

• Screw the red cap (87) to the shutter (88),

close it securely and take the ink cartridge

out completely.

• Store the ink cartridge in a horizontal position

in a sealed container.

A printer may be stored for a maximum of three months after fol-

lowing the procedure described below. Storing the printer for lon-

ger periods may result in damage to the print head.

The ink cartridge cannot be used in

another printer, because the ink level

information is stored in the printer

itself.
