There are three ways in which an external I/O address appears in this guide:

The HHT displays I/O addresses as shown below.

These numbers provide you with the follow-
ing ladder program information:

When you locate the cursor on an instruction (as
shown below), the HHT displays the instruction
address in the upper left corner of the display.

file number
rung number
nest level
branch level
instruction number (An asterisk
(*) means the cursor is not on
an instruction.)

Your programming device displays the full address.
For example, when you assign the address O:3/0,
the programming device will show it as O0:3.0/0
(output file, file 0, slot 3, word 0, terminal 0).
