Adjusting Disk Contact

Sharp Object Hazard:
Wear gloves. Use caution when making adjustments in this
area. Row unit discs may be sharp and contaminated with soil.

Refer to Figure 113
1.

Unfold the drill (page 34). Leave the row units raised.

2.

Place blocking or stands under the opener
sub-frames.

3.

Remove the bolt

retaining the opener disc on one

side. Carefully remove the blade

, noting how

many spacers

are outside the disc and how many

are inside the disc. Do not lose the hub components
and spacers.

4.

To reduce the spacing between the discs (the normal
case), move one spacer washer from the inside to
the outside.

Note: When installing new blades, it is generally

necessary to move outside spacers back inside
after both discs are mounted.

5.

Re-assemble and check disc contact.

Disc Scraper Adjustments

To keep opener discs turning freely, dirt scrapers are
mounted between discs to clean as discs rotate.

Sharp Object Hazard:
Wear gloves. Use caution when making adjustments in this
area. Row unit discs may be sharp and contaminated with soil.

Refer to Figure 114
As field conditions vary, scrapers may need to be
adjusted. In damp conditions, lower scrapers. If openers
are not turning freely, raise scrapers. To adjust, loosen
bolt and move scraper as needed.
