Planting too little
(all rows)

Incorrect seed rate, meter flutes, rate range
or gearbox setting.

Check seed rate information (beginning
page 84).

Excessive field speed. Excessive field
speed: chart rates were developed at
10.5 km/h (6.5 mph)

Reduce field speed.

Air system leaks retarding material flow
above meters

Check Hopper lids, meter seals, manifold
caps and seed hose connections. Adjust
latch and/or replace seals as needed.

Seed size and weight or fertilizer density and
granularity vary from chart

Calibrate. Adjust rate to compensate.

Seed or fertilizer density and granularity may
vary from season to season, batch to batch
and between different suppliers.

Re-calibrate if materials might have changed
since last calibration.

Low material level in hopper

Re-fill hopper.

Undersize contact drive tire, or low air
pressure in contact or front transport tires,
can decrease rates.

Correct tire size and air pressure (page 166).

Contact tire slipping. If due to moisture,
conditions may be too wet to plant.

Check tire sizes, condition and inflation.
Replace incorrect tires and worn tires. Inflate
low tires.

Fan speed too low

Increase fan speed (page 98).

Fan won’t run fast enough

Tractor must be able to supply 64 litres/min
at 14 bar (18 gallons/minute at 200 psi).

Fan won’t run fast enough

Check that hydraulic fan check valve is not
installed backward.

Actual field size is different.

Verify field size.

Excessive pass gaps.

Irregular shaped field.

Adjust marker (page 183).

Build-up of treatment or debris in seed
meter.

Clean out seed meter (page 124).

Plugged opener seed tube.

Lift drill, expose bottom of seed tube and
clean out.

Thrown or worn drive chains skipping.

Check drive chains, sprockets and idlers.

Meter sprocket damaged

Replace worn or damaged “stars” on meter
shaft

Planting too much
(all rows)

Incorrect seed rate, meter flutes, rate range
or gearbox setting.

Check seed rate information (beginning
page 84).

Seed size and weight or fertilizer density and
granularity vary from chart

Calibrate. Adjust rate to compensate.

Seed or fertilizer density and granularity may
vary from season to season, batch to batch
and between different suppliers.

Re-calibrate if materials might have changed
since last calibration (page 92).

Actual field size is different.

Verify field size.

Excessive pass overlap.

Irregular shaped field.

Adjust marker (page 183).

Oversize contact drive tire, or excess air
pressure, can increase rates.

Use correct tire size and air pressure
(page 166).
