Assign a Static IP to the Server Computer

A second static IP address must be given to the server computer.

1.

In the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel | Network Connections
| Local Area Connection | Properties
dialog. Under This computer uses
the following items
, highlight Internet Protocol TCP/IP, then click
Properties. This will open the Internet Protocol Properties dialog box as
shown in Fig. 38.

Click on Use the following IP address and enter the static IP address,
subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server information obtained from
IT.

Test the connection. Use a different computer already on your network to
ping the server's hostname (from the command prompt, type ping
followed by the hostname). Be aware that it may take a few minutes for the
