Installing the SAS Backplane

1 Position the SAS backplane so that the securing tabs on the chassis are

fully inserted into the securing slots on the backplane (see Figure 3-32).

2 Slide the backplane to the right until the release pin snaps into place.
3 Reconnect the following cables to the backplane (see Figure 3-32):

SAS cable

Power cable

Backplane cable

4 Reseat the hot-plug hard drives in the system (see "Installing a Hot-

Pluggable Hard Drive" on page 78).

NOTE:

Reinstall the hard drives in the same drive bays from which they were

removed.

5 Replace the processor airflow shroud (see "Installing the Processor Airflow

Shroud" on page 72).

6 Replace the system cover (see "Installing the System Cover" on page 67).

CAUTION:

support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered
by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the
product.

1 Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system

from the electrical outlet and from the peripherals.

2 Remove the system cover (see "Removing the System Cover" on page 66).
3 Remove the front-drive bezel (see "Removing the Front Bezel" on

page 63).
