10.4 Live Tab

The Live tab controls features of the Live Viewer.

Software

Rendered

This is the default setting for VIGIL Servers that are not equipped with a capture card. When selected, images in the
Live Viewer will be rendered through software. The software rendering displays a number of features not available to
the hardware rendering:

l

Display up to 32 camera feeds.

l

Display of network camera video feeds.

l

Information overlays such as recording status and video analytics data.

l

Fully configurable Live Viewer camera display.

l

Zooming displayed cameras.

l

TV Output and Analog Multiplexing.

Hardware

Rendered

This is the default setting for VIGIL Servers equipped with a capture card. When selected, images are rendered in
real-time at full camera frame rates in the Live Viewer window. When enabled, there is the option of displaying cam-
eras in either software or hardware rendered mode via the Live Viewer icon drop-down menu.

Max Over-

lay FPS

On PROSERIES systems, sets the Maximum FPS in Hardware Rendered Live Viewer. For example, if the FPS is set to
120, a 32 camera layout would display at 4FPS, a 4 camera layout would display at 30FPS.

Live

Decode All

Frames

Select which Live Viewer Layouts will decode all frames (the FPS the camera is recording at).  The Live Viewer Lay-
outs that are not selected will display at 1 FPS.

Note:

This setting is CPU and RAM intensive. Enabling this on Layouts with a high number of cameras can

degrade system performance.  The recommended setting is to only decode all frames on the single camera
layout.

Disable

Hardware
Live Over-

lay

Checking the Disable Hardware Live Overlay disables the ability to use Hardware Rendered mode to avoid conflict
with incompatible video cards. This option is only available on systems with a capture card installed.
