2.5 Setting the Datum with the 3D Touch Probe System
The following functions are listed for datum setting in the TCH PROBE
menu:
• Datum setting in any axis with
SURFACE = DATUM
• Setting a corner as datum with
CORNER = DATUM
• Setting the datum at a circle center with
CIRCLE CENTER = DATUM
To set the datum in a specific axis:
Select the probe function SURFACE = DATUM.
Move the touch probe to a position near the touch point.
SURFACE = DATUM
X + X – Y + Y – Z + Z –
Select the probe direction and axis in which you wish to set the datum, for
example Z in the Z– direction.
Probe the workpiece.
Enter the nominal coordinate of the datum.
